![]() After months of deliberation and exploring our options we reached the decision to make the move. We would sell our house in Auckland and most of our belongings ond move to Europe end of March 2016. First stop will be Hannover, Germany, where we would stay with Nicola’s parents for the first few weeks until we find a boat. Alistair finished working already in December, which meant he was in charge of research and organising stuff. We have done lots of online research and had already a few boats lined up that we liked and contacted a few of the brokers so we could make appointments closer to time when we would be in Europe. We started selling our belongings, things we wouldn’t be needing anymore like camping gear, outdoor furniture and chairs. We had the ‘problem’ that we weren’t able to sell all our items (esp furniture) yet, as we would be having a full house end of February. Our wedding date was 26 February 2016 and all of Nicola’s family would come over from Germany, Switzerland, Scotland and Denmark – we couldn’t cancel it anymore (not that we wanted to). Other than yachts and everything to do with boating, we started researching storage, overseas shipping of household items, pet travel and flights,… we then realised there was a lot to do!
